Our first two development squads essentially focus on skills. The squads swim short distances to encourage emphasis on skill. The first squad do not compete in any swim gala’s other than the club championships. Some of the swimmers in the second squad will be invited to swim in the Forth Valley meets. The next three lanes of the development squads maintain the focus on skills and further development of strokes though they swim in lengths to encourage holding skills over longer distances. These squads prepare the swimmers for competition. The swimmers will have the opportunity to swim in Club Championships, Forth Valley meets, Central Region Championships and possibly Alloa Graded Meets if and when the coaches think appropriate. What is currently known as ‘Steven’s Squad’ is really our first competitive squad. As a progression from the development squads, they will continue to work to a structured development plan. These swimmers will be entered into graded meets and mini or junior meets further a field in addition to the Club Championships, Central Region and Alloa graded meet. Some may still be invited to swim at the Forth Valley team events. Monica’s Squad works to a programme worked around the competition calendar. As well as the regional and club competitions, this squad will be entered into other graded meets, junior open meets and district championships. Some of the swimmers will qualify to swim at Scottish National Age Group Championships. Some may even compete in the British Age Group Championships. The National Squad also work to a plan designed around the competition calendar targeting larger competitions. They take part in District and National Championships as well as Open meets around Scotland and in England. Some swimmers compete in the British Age Group and Youth Championships and British Trials. Commitment/ExpectationsSwimmers are expected to attend all sessions offered.
Each squads training programme is planned throughout all sessions offered to
that squad so by attending a minimum of sessions or regularly missing one of the
sessions, a swimmer will find it difficult to keep up with others in the squad
who will be working to a fully rounded programme. Reluctantly the recent AGM agreed to increase fees. THIS HAS BEEN KEPT TO £1 PER SWIMMER per month! Therefore could all parents / carers please make sure they are paying the correct STANDING ORDER
Prices correct as of: 01.10.05 Points of note:
The following guidelines have been developed in conjunction with the Leisure Bowl management in relation to the use of their facilities. We seek the co-operation of all swimmers and their parents/guardians in adhering to them at all times please.
